No through traffic, exhaust fumes, factory noises or otherwise disturb this nature paradise. Really a paradise; up to 40 species of birds, of kingfishers, swans, etc. are at home here. But also hares and deer can observe the nature lover during a walk around the lake. The Axelsee, 10 hectares, directly in front of the campsite has the same attraction for hikers as for fishermen. In the lake a rich fishstand, among others Carp, perch, pike, and tench. The path around the lake, about 2 km long, runs along the pine forest and through the habitat back to the starting point. From the trail you can reach the Weser, which flows past the recreation area. The Weser, originating from the confluence of Fulda and Werra, flows through the beautiful nature, past villages and towns with remarkable half-timbered houses, castles, fortresses, churches and monasteries. The Reinhardswald and Solling with its vast oak and beech forests form the framework for the river and the flood plains of the river Weser. The recreational area Axelsee is an ideal starting point for excursions in this landscape. On foot, by bike, car or Weserdampfschiff it is possible to explore the wooded mountains.
