Adventure, nature and culture

Slovenian campsites are increasingly being discovered by the Dutch camper. And not just as a transit country to Croatia. More and more Dutch people are discovering campsites in Slovenia as an ideal destination. It is a place where you will never be bored, no matter the season. Guests seeking tranquility, beautiful nature in all its diversity, mountains, lakes, sea, thermal baths, historic towns and villages, castles and churches… Almost too many to mention!

The list of museums, castles and churches worth visiting is endless. There are countless hiking trails in the hills and mountains, cycling routes and ski slopes, opportunities for hunting, fishing, horse riding and sports such as canoeing, rafting, skydiving, paragliding and hang-gliding. Scattered across the country there are many cultural events (music, theatre, dance, etc.) and local festivals, as well as discos where you can soak up the nightlife.

The Slovenian campsites

Campsites in Slovenia are the ideal starting point for a holiday in unspoilt nature, with nothing in the area but the sound of rustling trees and singing birds. To keep the kids busy and happy, many campsites have placed playgrounds or adrenaline parks. Some campsites also have a swimming pool or the opportunity to splash in the river. Many campsites in Slovenia organize all kinds of activities for children.

Alpine

Much of the land surrounding the campsites in Slovenia is made up of mountains, covered with dark green forests, especially in the northern Alpine region. The scenery is enchanting everywhere, from the gray peaks of Triglav National Park to the turquoise waters of the Soca River. It is a well-known ski area in winter and a wonderful holiday area during the summer months for mountain walks, mountaineering, mountain biking, rafting, equestrian sports and other sports.

A second beautiful holiday area in western Slovenia is around and near Lake Bled. An oasis for those seeking tranquility, but also a challenging area for hikers, mountain hikers and climbers. You will find here undulating lakes where the surrounding mountains are reflected. The lakes are wonderful for canoeing or swimming. They are refreshed by water from the countless waterfalls and rivers from the mountains. You can take beautiful walks around the campsites in Slovenia along streams that run through various deep gorges, such as the Vintgar gorge.

The Slovenian coast and the Karst

To the southwest lies a narrow coastal strip behind the limestone caves. It is seen as the transition zone between the Alps and the Mediterranean. There the rocky ridges and the high pastures of the limestone plateau known as the Karst suddenly give way to a lush coast with olive groves and palm trees and a number of important historic towns. Goriska Brda is a region of rolling hills close to the Italian border and known for its vineyards. The short Adriatic coast is very varied. There are historic harbor towns such as Koper and Piran. Portoroz is the seaside resort par excellence with a vibrant nightlife in summer. Inland, the Karst offers gorges and caves, as in Postonja and Skocjan. The Postonja caves are one of the largest in the world.

Ljubljana

In the center of the country is the capital Ljubljana, a bustling city where graceful architecture goes hand in hand with a zest for life. There is a good city camping site on the outer edge.

Southern and Eastern Slovenia

These regions border Austria, Hungary and Croatia. The campsites in this part of Slovenia are surrounded by a melting pot of cultures and histories. The landscape varies from hills to vast green plains and from idyllic vineyards to virgin forests, where brown bears and lynx still live. Slovenia is traditionally known for its thermal baths and mineral water springs. Campers can enjoy all kinds of modern forms of relaxation here in various thermal baths and spas. Historic towns such as Maribor and Ptuj are well worth a look. The Kolpa Valley is one of the favorite holiday destinations of Slovenians, thanks to its beautiful nature and one of the cleanest and - in summer - warmest rivers.

Slovenia Campsites by the Sea

Slovenia is a camping destination yet to be discovered by many. The country has a short coastal strip on the Adriatic Sea in the west and borders on the Alps in the south. Camping in Slovenia has a lot to offer especially for the camper who is ready to embark on a journey of discovery. In this country you will find a lot of vibrant cities and beautiful natural beauty. Due to the small surface it is possible to book a campsite on the Slovenian coast and to combine your beach and action holiday. A day at the beach and a city trip to Ljubljana are therefore certainly possible. Campingnavigator has selected the best campsites in Slovenia especially for you on the website. So you no longer have to search for your ideal camping holiday for a long time.
