Camping De Otter, near Steendam, is located directly on the Schildmeer. The 350 ha Schildmeer has clean bathing water and is very suitable for sailing, rowing, canoeing and for surfing. On or at the Schildmeer there are plenty of opportunities for fishing. Camping De Otter in Steendam rents motor boats, kayaks, canoes, surfboards and sailing boats. And also cycling, scooters and go-karts. In the vicinity of the campsite there are many opportunities for recreation with forests, water and nature reserves. In addition to camping there are various rental options: recreational homes, Finnish log homes, round-house dwellings and fully equipped mobile homes. The campsite has its own marina with boat ramp. You can launch your own boat there. And enjoy for hours during various boat trips that you can undertake from the campsite. From the Schildmeer you have an open sailing connection from the Otter campsite to for example the Ems or the city of Groningen. In the pavilion you can go for plates, pizzas, pancakes and fries. The pavilion has a view of the Schildmeer. So that you can enjoy a beautiful sunset during your holiday. A new 9-hole golf course has been built opposite camping de Otter. Guests of the campsite can also make use of this, for a fee.
